Beckmann Volmer,
a manufacturer
of
major
steel
components
for wind
turbines, today
announced it
will locate a
new
manufacturing
facility in
Osceola. The
company, a
direct supplier
to Nordex along
with other
wind-energy
companies, will
invest $10
million in the
new facility,
where
approximately
300 people will
be employed at
an average
hourly wage of
$18.00.
“We are
delighted to
call Osceola,
Arkansas our new
home,” said
Bernd Volmer,
managing
director and
co-owner of the
company. “After
a thorough
search
considering more
than 100
possible
locations in the
Midwest and
South, we
believe that we
have found the
best place for
us to set up
shop.” Upon
completion of
the initial
investment and
hiring of the
first 300
employees, the
company will
consider an
additional $7.5
million
investment,
along with 200
more employees.
Governor Mike
Beebe, who
visited Beckmann
Volmer’s
leadership on
his European
business trip in
October 2009,
joined local and
company leaders
at the
announcement.
“Beckmann Volmer
is the latest
international
company to
select Arkansas
as the home for
its North
American
operations, and
their commitment
will bring
quality jobs to
Mississippi
County,” Beebe
said. “Our
stature in the
renewable-energy
sector continues
to bring this
type of economic
investment to
Arkansas.”
Beckman Volmer
is headquartered
in Germany and
also has
operations in
Poland and China.
Steel components
manufactured by
Beckmann Volmer
have a wide
variety of
applications in
a wind turbine.
The largest
component to be
produced in
Osceola will be
turbine main
frames – the
structural
backbone of the
turbine.

Aviation Repair Technologies announces
state-of-the-art facility in
Blytheville
BLYTHEVILLE, Arkansas (March 26,
2008) – Aviation Repair
Technologies (ART) will open an
airframe and engine repair
facility at the Arkansas
Aeroplex in Blytheville. The
company will invest $20-million
and will employ 310 people
within three years. The average
salary for those employees will
be approximately $20 per hour.
“The $16.9 billion annual
airline maintenance market is
projected to grow 4.3% yearly
and this facility is part of our
strategy to meet that demand,”
said Ben Quevedo, Sr., chairman
of ART and chief executive
officer of Aero Maintenance
Group. “The Arkansas Aeroplex is
an excellent headquarters for
our operations and the support
of the state and local
government played an important
role in the decision to locate
in Mississippi County. We look
forward to building a successful
enterprise in Blytheville and in
the state of Arkansas.”
ART’s principal activities at
the Arkansas Aeroplex will
include line maintenance, heavy
maintenance, jet engine overhaul
and other maintenance activities
for aircraft such as the CRJ-200
and ATR-72. ART currently
provides maintenance for several
operators around the United
States including Federal
Express, Delta Air Lines and
American Eagle.

economic-development efforts,”

Aviation Repair Technologies has

In
2007 Mississippi County,
Arkansas was fortunate to
increase job growth. There were
four(4) existing industry
expansions and one new industry
announcement, for a total of 334
jobs created. The newest
industry was PIZO LLC.
In 2006 Mississippi County,
Arkansas made several great
strides in economic development,
with the creation of 425 new
jobs and no closures. There were
six(6) existing industry
expansions which created 300
jobs. Mississippi County,
Arkansas was proud to welcome
two(2) new industries, Roll
Coater and Telling.
